The short version
Beenie does not collect anything about you. There is no Beenie account, no Beenie server, and no analytics. Your recipes, plans and grocery lists are stored on your iPhone and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account.
What stays on your device
Everything you put into Beenie: recipes, tags, meal plans, grocery lists, stores, cooking history and your settings. None of it is sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.
iCloud
If you are signed in to iCloud, Beenie keeps your library in step across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit. Your data is stored in your iCloud account, under your Apple ID, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We cannot see it.
If you buy the Household upgrade and invite someone, the recipes, plan and grocery list you share are readable by the people you invite, and by nobody else. You can stop sharing or remove a person at any time in Settings. Removing someone does not delete the copy already on their device — once a copy is on somebody's phone it is theirs.
Photos and the camera
If you import a recipe from a photo or a cookbook page, the image is read on your device to extract the text. The image is not uploaded and is not kept by Beenie.
Importing from the web
Beenie includes a browser so you can import a recipe from a page, including pages on sites you subscribe to. Sites you visit see the same things any browser would show them — that is between you and those sites, and their own privacy policies apply. Any cookies or sign-ins are stored on your device in Beenie's own browsing container; Beenie does not read them. Settings → Sign out of sites clears that container.
Typing something that is not a web address searches DuckDuckGo. That search is subject to DuckDuckGo's privacy policy.
On-device intelligence
Some parts of Beenie — reading a pasted recipe, naming a timer — use Apple's on-device model. Nothing is sent off the device for these, and nothing is used to train anything.
Purchases
The Household upgrade is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Beenie never sees your payment details. We receive no information about you from Apple beyond whether this device is entitled to the feature.
Children
Beenie is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, of any age.
Deleting your data
Settings → Clear all data removes every recipe, list and plan from the device, signs you out of every site, and forgets your preferences. If you own a shared household, it also deletes the household from your iCloud and stops the sharing. This cannot be undone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it.
